flexible, hospitable, strong identity
We made the space, for location Museumpark, calm and neutral by removing or rearranging the multitude of shapes and colours. New volumes with different functions were designed to divide. These volumes are cheerful ‘colour pops’ that define the space and make it sensible.
The serving area is immediately recognisable: a large island with rounded corners, where you can move around naturally and the barista has a prominent role. Centrally placed and visible from all access routes. To accommodate larger groups for lunch long tables can be used, to study or meet fellow students on smaller scale we designed volumes with niches.

The volumes in the multifunctional space and the large island of the serving area correspond in materialisation: strong and monolithically coloured, as a reference to the house style of the university. Another important spatial intervention is the flexible system of curtains that we introduced. This means that large spaces can be divided into smaller ones in no time, if necessary. For a presentation with an audience of a few dozen people, to a workshop or job market for more then hundred people.
