Municipality Borger Odoorn

The renovation of the Municipality of Borger-Odoorn’s town hall has begun! Hollandse Nieuwe, in collaboration with DAAD Architecten BV, has designed a sustainable upgrade for the building, originally created by Alberts en Van Huut Architektenbureau in Exloo. The new design places a strong emphasis on reuse, circularity, and bio-based materials.

The town hall had become too small, and relocating this heart of democracy has opened the building to both the public and the central garden. By connecting the entrance area, council chamber, restaurant/bar, and garden with pivoting doors, the ground floor now seamlessly links all spaces, making it suitable for a wide variety of events. This optimises both public functionality and accessibility.

The new workspaces for staff will also be fully equipped for hybrid working—an excellent decision by the municipality that brings significant environmental benefits.

The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
